Clash of the Comics

Clash of the Comics is the critically-acclaimed, cult-favourite, high-octane mashup of stand-up and wrestling that packed out the Eventim Apollo and is now available on streaming.

I created a roster of animated character portraits for the show's comedians, wrestlers, and a handful of the (potentially mythical) backstage crew, as well as a limited-edition commemorative poster sold at the event.

The animations were used as part of the show's social media strategy before the event, were projected on the Apollo's giant screens during the live show, and remain part of the streamed version. Inspired by wrestling promos, comic-book heroes, and fighting-game character selects; each animation transformed its subject into an exaggerated, larger-than-life alter ego: complete with intimidating sneers, dramatic stares, and a secret superpower revealed in the final frame of every animation.
