Clash of the Comics

Clash of the Comics is the critically-acclaimed, cult-favourite, carnival-of-chaos mashup of comedy and wrestling that sold-out the Eventim Apollo, before storming onto Channel 4.

I created a roster of animated character portraits for the show's comedians, wrestlers, and a handful of the (potentially mythical) backstage crew, as well as a limited-edition commemorative poster sold at the event.

The animations were used as part of the show's social media strategy before the event, were projected on the Apollo's giant screens during the live show, and remain part of the streamed version. Inspired by wrestling promos, comic-book heroes, and fighting-game character selects; each animation transformed its subject into an exaggerated, larger-than-life alter ego: complete with intimidating sneers, dramatic stares, and a secret superpower revealed in the final frame of every animation.
